Additionally, seize the opportunity to visit the penguin colony at Punta Tombo, the largest in Latin America, home to the Magellanic penguin. You'll also have the chance to embark on a whale-watching adventure. During this excursion, you'll gain insight into the whales' biological cycle, including mating, birthing, and calf-rearing.
Tour Description
Day 01
Arrival at Trelew Airport followed by a transfer to the hotel with a Spanish-speaking guide.
Accommodation: Stay at a selected hotel in standard rooms with breakfast included for 3 nights.
Day 02
Scheduled tour to Península Valdés with a Spanish-speaking guide.
Our first stop is the Center of Istmo C. Ameghino Interpretation Center, where you'll find an exhibition highlighting the flora, fauna, and geology of the region.
Key locations on the agenda include: Puerto Pirámide, a quaint village where you can embark on whale watching excursions from June to December and enjoy nautical tours during the summer months; Caleta Valdés and Punta Cantor, where, depending on the season, you can observe sea lions, elephant seals, and Magellanic penguins starting in September, all set against the backdrop of this unique geological landscape.
Additionally, while traveling along the Argentine coast, there might be opportunities to spot orcas, subject to the wildlife calendar. The roads and surrounding fields offer sightings of diverse terrestrial wildlife, including guanacos, choiques, maras, armadillos, and gray foxes.
Day 03
Scheduled excursion to Punta Tombo for dolphin watching with a Spanish-speaking guide.
We set off in the morning for the penguin colony at the Punta Tombo Provincial Reserve. After a journey of approximately two and a half hours through the Patagonian steppe, we reach the expansive penguin colony, spanning 200 hectares of clay and sand, where penguins nest and rear their chicks.
For about an hour and a half, we will stroll along pathways among the penguins, observing the charming behaviors of this delightful species.
The reserve is equipped with wildlife guards, restrooms, and a café.
In the afternoon, enjoy a captivating dolphin watching experience on a scenic boat ride.
We will then return to Puerto Madryn by sunset.
Day 04
Hotel transfer in Puerto Madryn to the airport with a guide.
